The part of Anaheim with real choice at both ends

Most parts of this city push you one way. Anaheim Hills has almost nothing. East Anaheim is entirely six-bed houses. West Anaheim has volume but an enormous spread of quality. North west Anaheim is the one area where a family can genuinely weigh a house against a community without changing postcode.

That matters more than it sounds, because the decision between the two is usually about temperament rather than medical need — and being able to walk through one of each in the same afternoon, ten minutes apart, is the fastest way a family ever reaches an honest answer.

New buildings, thin records

Several of the larger communities here were first licensed very recently. That is not a mark against them; new buildings are often excellent and better designed than old ones. But a licence granted in the last two years means almost no inspection history to read, so the usual way of checking a home independently does not work yet.

Where the record is thin, the questions have to do more work: who runs it, what did they run before, what is the staffing overnight, and what is the written answer on when a resident would be asked to leave.
