Urgent placement
Somebody needs a safe place to sleep, and not in three weeks
Call (714) 975-9652. A person answers, 8am to 6pm, seven days a week including weekends. Tell us the level of care and the date the current arrangement ends, and we will come back the same day with which of Anaheim's 97 licensed homes can take it.
Call (714) 975-9652 nowFree to your family. No charge for urgency, and no fee at all on a Medi-Cal placement.
Can somebody really move in within 24 to 48 hours?
Sometimes yes. But the honest version is that the bed is rarely what holds it up. California licenses 97 residential care homes inside Anaheim city limits, 83 of them six-bed houses, and across that many homes something is usually available this week.
What takes the time is the paperwork a licensed home is required to hold before a resident moves in — which includes a physician's report and a current tuberculosis clearance. Those depend on a doctor's availability, not on how hard anybody pushes. A family that starts the medical paperwork on day one and the home search on day two usually moves faster than one that does it the other way round.
So the first thing we do on an urgent call is tell you which of the two clocks you are actually on, because that decides everything else.
On the call
Six things that let us answer the same day
None is essential. Each one you have saves hours.
- 1Where the person is right now — at home, in hospital, in rehab, or in a home that has given notice.
- 2The date the current arrangement ends, and whether that date is firm.
- 3What they need help with: walking, transfers, toileting, bathing, eating, medication.
- 4Whether there is memory loss, and specifically whether they try to leave.
- 5Who is paying: private funds, long-term care insurance, Medi-Cal, VA, or unknown.
- 6Any condition a care home has to be licensed or waivered for — a feeding tube, a tracheostomy, oxygen, hospice.

If you need somebody other than us
The independent numbers, including out of hours
Immediate danger — 911. We are a placement service, not an emergency service, and we are not open at 2am.
Suspected abuse or neglect at home — Orange County Adult Protective Services, 1 (800) 451-5155.
Something wrong inside a licensed care home — the Long-Term Care Ombudsman CRISISline, 1 (800) 231-4024, 24 hours.
Any other need — the Orange County Office on Aging information line, (714) 480-6450. Free, independent of us, and they know about programmes that have nothing to do with placement.

Common questions
Urgent placement, answered
- Can you place someone in a care home within 24 hours?
- Sometimes, and we will tell you honestly on the call which it is. A bed is rarely the constraint in Anaheim — the state licenses 97 care homes here and something is usually open. What takes time is paperwork a care home is required to have, and a doctor's signature cannot be rushed by us or by them.
- What counts as an emergency placement?
- In practice: a hospital or rehab discharge with days or hours of notice, a caregiver who has been taken ill or has died, a home that has given notice, a parent found unsafe at home, or an Adult Protective Services involvement. All of them share one feature — the current arrangement ends on a known date.
- Is there a cost for urgent help?
- No, and there is no premium for urgency. Our service is free to families whatever the timeline; a care home pays a referral fee when somebody moves in. We take no fee at all on a Medi-Cal placement.
- What if it is late at night?
- We answer 8am to 6pm, seven days a week. If it is outside those hours and somebody is unsafe right now, call 911. If you believe an older adult is being abused or neglected, Orange County Adult Protective Services is on 1 (800) 451-5155 and the Long-Term Care Ombudsman CRISISline is on 1 (800) 231-4024, both 24 hours.
We publish every licensed care home in Anaheim with its licence number, so you can see the inventory rather than take our word for it.

If there is a date, call rather than type
The form works and somebody reads it. But when the clock is running the phone is faster, and we will stay on it with you until there is somewhere for her to go.
Tell us who you are looking after
Four short questions. Nothing you answer is shared with a facility until you say so.
